We are excited to welcome a new addition to our team this summer - Allison Wendel, our Social Content and PR intern. Allison is a recent graduate from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in strategic communications with a concentration in public relations and advertising. Having a passion for clearly communicating strategic messages and thinking creatively on collaborative projects, she knew public relations was the perfect industry to pursue. Whether it’s news writing, crisis communications, proofreading or media planning, Allison loves it all. As our summer intern, Allison will be assisting our team with several assignments. This includes creating engaging social content, drafting social media calendars, performing in-depth research, writing blog posts and helping develop ongoing client projects. This internship gives Allison a taste of an agency's fast-paced workplace while also sharpening her communication skills in the process. With her creative mindset and dedication to strategic communications, we know Allison will be an asset to the team over the next few months.

What are some of your hobbies?

As an extrovert, I love being with people. So, my favorite hobby is hosting game nights with my husband Joshua. We currently have about 35 board/card games on our game shelf, and we always find an excuse to buy another to add to our collection. Outside of epic game nights with my closest friends, I love hiking, going to concerts, watching movies at the theater and trying new things. As long as there is a fun treat involved, I am down for anything!

Who are you listening to right now?

I grew up exclusively listening to a mix of country radio and K-Love, but now my taste in music looks a little different. With the summer starting, I have been listening to a LOT of Fleetwood Mac and ABBA. There’s something about those bands that puts me in a summertime mood. But through every season, you will catch me listening to John Mayer, Sam Cooke, The Brook and the Bluff, Hozier and Noah Kahan.

What did you want to be when you were little?

My career aspirations were all over the place as a kid. I remember wanting to be a doctor when I was in kindergarten so I could one day afford to buy my dad a backhoe and myself a hot tub. That dream quickly faded when I realized how long it took to get through medical school. As I grew older, my career dreams ranged from fashion designer to professional athlete. Realizing those weren't too attainable, I decided to pursue a career that aligned with my strengths and interests. In high school, I attended a public charter school that allowed me to earn an associate's degree in history from Seminole State College while still in high school. Initially planning to be a history teacher, I transferred to Oklahoma State University for a dual degree in history and strategic communications. There, I discovered my passion for PR and advertising. The strategic communications field, particularly PR, was the perfect fit, catering to my skills and interests in a way I couldn't have imagined when I was younger.

Favorite quote?

Candid shot of Allison and Joshua

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

― 1 Corinthians 13:13

This quote reminds me to be mindful of ways to love others in every area of life. The greatest aspect of my faith is to love others more than I might even love myself. Practicing humility and serving those around me truly gives my life a greater meaning and purpose.
