What are some of your hobbies?
As a Gen Z digital native, I grew up online, consistently engaging in pop culture. Whether it be following the hottest trends on social media or keeping up with the world's biggest celebrities, I am deeply committed to analyzing the influence popular culture has on society. Because of this, I consider my biggest hobby to be studying pop culture. It may sound strange, but ensuring I am knowledgeable about what is going on in the entertainment, music, fashion and social media spheres remains a satisfying and exciting activity in my life. Outside of my pop culture obsession, I love going on sunset runs, trying tasty new restaurants, spending time with my friends and family and going to the movie theater to see the latest films.
What are you reading/listening to/watching right now?
This year has been golden for the music industry, with many artists creating groundbreaking new hits. Personally, you can catch me listening to anything off of The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan, Brat by Charli XCX, or Snow Angel by Renee Rapp. I am also an avid movie watcher. Buying the unlimited movie pass at my local theater has proven to be a great decision as I go see a new movie at least once a week. I love avant-garde experimental films, but I am always down to see a comedic cult classic or anything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Do you have any pets?
My favorite part of my day is when I return home and reunite with my furry son, Cheeto! I rescued Cheeto from the shelter in the fall of 2022 and we have been inseparable ever since. He is 10 pounds of energy, mischief and companionship, and has made my life ten times more interesting and exciting. His favorite pastimes include playing with his toy duck, Ducky, perching on the windowsill to spy on the neighbors, and adding his own “personal touch” to my furniture (and by that, I mean destroying it).
Favorite vacation destination?
New York City is definitely my favorite vacation destination. I have always been fascinated with the city, and the vast amounts of culture present make visiting feel like I’ve entered a new world. My favorite thing to do when I visit New York City is to walk around neighborhoods and immerse myself in the experience, living life as a local would by trying coffee shops, going to farmer’s markets and trying new-to-me restaurants and bars. Of course, I also love to go see Broadway musicals, visit art galleries and see the tourist attractions (my favorite is the Statue of Liberty).
How did you get your start in PR?
I have always been interested in pop culture, social media and societal and cultural trends. When I didn’t know what career path I wanted to take, I did a lot of research on which jobs would allow me to pursue these interests and discovered public relations! Through my studies at the University of Oklahoma, I have fallen more in love with PR and hope to continue working in this industry as long as possible.
